CHAPTER-
5
GOD
IS IN THE FURNACE WITH YOU.
Let the enemies or frenemies (friends who turn out to
be enemies) turn up the heat. It’s okay. Because Jesus is in your life, you
will not be destroyed. The Hebrew boys are a witness, Jesus will deliver you.
He’s not afraid of hell-fire. He has conquered hell.
“I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!
And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:18).
As
long as He’s with you, you don’t have to worry or be afraid. Before it’s all
over your enemy will be bowing to your God.
“It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the
Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'"
(Romans 14:11)
Let God work. Watch Him prepare a table in the
presence of your enemy (Psalm 23:5). People who know you will have no choice
but to acknowledge God’s presence in your circumstances. Be encouraged by what God said to Cyrus in Isaiah
45:2-3:
“(2) I will go before you and make
the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through
their iron bars. (3)"I will give you the
treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know
that it is I, The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name…”
God knows who you are and He know what you desire. If
He has chosen you and anointed you to do it, He will see you through it. And He
will bless you beyond your imagination.
He also knows the best way to get you to your
destination. Sometimes that route, through no fault of your own, is less than
ideal. How inconvenient must the Fiery Furnace have been? Surely there was
another way to show faithfulness rather than be faced with death by fire. But
God is always with you. And no matter how hot it gets or how crooked that path
seems, He is able to deliver.
I used to get so down when obstacles would come. It
was all I could do to keep a fake smile on my face in public. On the inside I
was crying, but I put up a front because I didn’t want people to know that I
felt hopeless and afraid. Anything could come along and knock me into a negative
slump.
Now I literally stop; take a deep breath; and tell
myself, “God has never forsaken you and He’s not about to start now. Try to see
it His way.”
No matter how complicated your situation has become he
can straighten out any mess. Trust Him. Give it to Him. Take your hands off of
it. Don’t be led by your emotions or what you see happening around you. Only
allow yourself to be led by the Spirit.
